Whiffs and Wisps of Memories

There's a certain book smell where, if I catch a whiff, I am immediately transported back to being a little girl grasping her brand new copy of The Worst Witch. It always blows me away how we can so easily be reminded of a person, a memory or a moment in time by just a smell.

The way that smell and memory are so intertwined is amazing. Smells are handled by the olfactory bulb, the structure in the front of the brain that sends information to the other areas of the body's central command for further processing. Odours take a direct route to the limbic system, including the amygdala and the hippocampus, the regions related to emotion and memory.

Smells not only trigger memories but can benefit our mind and body. This is why I only use pure essential oils in my ritual wax melts. The benefits of essential oils have long been known. They can manage pain, improve sleep quality, reduce stress, agitation and anxiety, soothe sore joints, treat headaches and migraines not to mention fight bacteria and viruses, the list is endless. This is why I spend time carefully selecting and blending essential oils, to make sure that I not only get a beautiful fragrance but also incorporate the full benefits of the oils into my ritual wax melts.

Each of my wax melts are created to invoke a certain feeling or mood, please see my shop for full details
